Wellington, FL (February 10, 2010) -
Highlife Farms' sport horses were shining in the sunshine state this past week, bringing home top ribbons at prestigious Wellington jumping and dressage shows. Kenny and Joan Sims own Highlife Farms, a world-class sport horse breeding and training farm located in Orlando. Olympian Lisa Wilcox is the head trainer of Highlife Farms.
Joan Sims credits their success to a team effort. "We have a successful support team here at the farm and at the shows", said Sims. Olympian Lauren Hough is the Highlife team member who competes Highlife Farms Grand Prix jumper, Prezioso and the pair has been in top form since returning from a successful European tour.
Highlife's Prezioso OLD (Pilox), an Oldenburg Grand Prix jumper stallion, and Hough posted double clean rounds in the $75,000 Nespresso Grand Prix at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, capturing third place. "Prezioso is a really consistent horse and I am pleased to be part of the Highlife team," Hough said. "Prezioso is almost always in the top three when we compete above 1.50 meters. He is a very competitive and talented horse."
Hough and Prezioso also placed third in the $30,000 WEF Challenge Cup Round Three. Prezioso again had double clean rounds, finishing seconds behind winner Eric Lamaze.
While Prezioso was earning ribbons for Highlife at WEF, Der Dollar, a 2003 Oldenburg stallion and the 2006 USDF Southeast Breeder's Champion, was bringing home the blues at the Wellington Classic Sunshine Challenge Dressage with rider Jessica Kozel. "Der Dollar is the full brother of our star Der Euro, who won the 2002 Bundeschampionate," Joan Sims said. "Der Dollar was wonderful at the Sunshine Challenge and I am extremely proud of him."
Kozel and Der Dollar won the USEF Fourth Level Test 1 and the USEF Third/Fourth Level Test of Choice. "Jessica and Der Dollar were on top of their game and I was really pleased with their rides," said head trainer Lisa Wilcox.
Wilcox believes the quality of sport horses at Highlife is second to none. "Joan realizes that the key to her success has been her selection of top quality sport horses with exceptional pedigrees for her foundation mares," Wilcox said. "Bloodlines are from Oldenburger, Holsteiner, Hannoverian and Westphalen, many of which have earned elite status with the German Oldenburg Verband."
